1. a close-knit group of interrelated families
- a large family.
- a group of people with a strong common interest.
The word “Clan” by definition means “a close-knit group of interrelated families”, “a group of people with a strong common interest”. This simple explanation sums up the concept and the driving force behind our restaurant and company name.
We are by nature nomads and have been lucky enough to travel the world either through work or through our families. By way of confirmation our grandchildren (where the Cklan takes its name are scattered across the world – (Kyle, Scotland) (Connor, South Africa) (Luna, USA) (Aiden, USA) (Nadine, Scotland). During our travels we have taken the best experiences and incorporated them into one restaurant. Eat, drink and be merry. Welcome to the family.
We designed the premises to be practical, pleasing to the eye and make all our extended family feel comfortable and relaxed. Our goal was to be able to supply all the components to ensure a wonderful experience within the restaurant while also allowing services to be supplied externally.
Designer Cakes made by Pamela, hand sculptured toppers, and Specialty Sugar work allow us to supply celebration Cakes (Birthdays, Anniversaries or “Just because”) for every occasion.
The Designer Cake shop provides all the deserts for the restaurant ensuring a fresh homemade supply of deserts to compliment your meal and doubles as our coffee shop to supply the local office workers with the morning kick to get the day started whether that be breakfast or just Java.
The restaurant then switches over for lunch menus where you can get not only the Scottish specialties but also Bar and light lunches along with full meals.
Our rib and steak sauce is already causing a stir and strongly advise you sample them or you really will have missed out. We have sourced this from USA from one of our travelling Clan who is a certified champion and have adjusted it to suit the SA pallet. This can be bought at the restaurant as requested.
The adage is “there is nothing better than dinner and a show” and here at the Cklan that is what we supply. We have live music three times a week (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) where you can enjoy your meal with some of the best local known and up and coming talent. Be prepared for a fun noisy night and remember to bring your dancing shoes.
On Sundays we provide a full carvery (cut to order and not precut and left to swim in gravy) where you can choose the preference of your roast (rare, medium or well done).
“Waste not, want not” – A saying to live by. We at the Cklan support the less fortunate where we can and our excess food goes to them.
